engagement  sessions

If you’ve ever thought ‘Wouldn’t it be great to have some amazing photo’s of us?‘, then this is the perfect opportunity.  You’re getting married, what better reason to celebrate and I do love to photograph people in love! Maybe you’re nervous about being in front of the camera on your wedding day?  An engagement session is a great way to get to know me better, get used to the camera (not many of us love being in front of the camera, myself included, but you’ll  be surprised how quickly you relax and enjoy yourselves!) and you get to take away loads of fun, photos of you relaxing with your favourite person.  It’s also a great opportunity for you to tell me more about what you’re planning for your big day and for us to chat in general about what’s important to you both.

What is an engagement session and what should you expect?

How does having a day off sound, a day for just for the two of you!  I suggest (and it is only a suggestion) that you take a day off work and plan fun stuff, maybe some other wedding things you’ve not had time to do or go for a nice lunch, sounding fun yet!?!?   Cool, well that’s the plan, I want you to be able to take it easy and enjoy yourselves.  We can start with a chat over a cuppa (and cake of course!) and then on to getting fab photos of you.

Sessions last between 1 and 2 hours and usually take place outdoors at a location of your choice (please see price list below for full details on locations).  One of the best things about living in the UK is the variety of stunning landscapes, parks and architecture, so whether you chose to have your session at the location of your proposal, where you love to go for leisurely Sunday strolls or in your home town, there’s never a shortage of fantastic backdrops to help make your photos uniquely yours.

Don’t worry about posing, it’s my job to help you relax and I’ll give you as little or much direction as you need.  It’s all about you, being you. If you’d rather not pose at all then we can keep the whole session completely documentary in style; maybe visit a favourite vintage market, coffee shop or funfair to capture photos of you just having fun in each others company. Alternatively why not do something a little more adventurous, seriously, nothing’s too silly, whatever your idea let me know and we’ll endeavour to make it happen.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an engagement session last?  I allow up to 2 hours for a session to make sure we have plenty of time to get loads of great photos as well as time to grab a coffee and for you to tell me all about your big day.

What should we wear?  I always suggest that you wear something that you love wearing to help you feel more comfortable. Other than that my only tip is try not to wear all black simply because there’s nothing like a bit of colour to add interest to your images.  If you fancy a couple of outfit changes then why not, go for it.

How far will you travel for an engagement session? Travel up to 25 miles from the centre of Reading is included in the session price.  If you’d like me to travel further then there is an additional mileage charge.

How long after the session will we get our images?  Your images will be ready to view online in a password protected gallery no longer than two weeks after your session (It will normally be just a week but at busier times of the year it can take a little longer).  Shortly after the gallery goes live I will get the USB of images in the post to you.  But to make sure that you get to see at least a few of the images as soon as possible I will do you a little ‘Sneak Peek’ on the blog.

How many images should we expect to get?  The exact number of images does vary a little depending on the location, weather etc. but you should expect to get between 50 and 70.  The images are edited to the standard of the images that you have seen in the gallery above and on the blog so that they look their very best.  And yes if an unsightly blemish has popped up the day before I will ‘disappear’ it for you although if you’re wanting more extensive retouching there is an additional charge.
