Faye & Paul’s Beechenhill Farm Wedding – Part 1

Beechenhill Farm Wedding - 081

Faye and Paul are just lovely! They got in touch ages ago looking for a photographer to document their wedding day and after a good Skype chat we quickly worked out we were a pretty good match for each other.

They planned a small gathering of just 30 or so guests on Beechenhill Farm, a working organic farm on the edge of the Peak District near Ashbourne.  Their Beechenhill Farm wedding was small but perfectly formed. The decoration was minimal but worked so well with the setting.  The neutral colours and textures perfectly complimented the beautiful flower arrangements created by Swallows and Damsons.    They had the most fantastic floral wreath suspended from the ceiling; I loved this touch, really unusual and a great way to add another dimension to the room.  Faye loves flowers and so knowing that the HUGE Cafe aux Lait Dahlia in her bouquet had come from the gardens at Chatsworth House was something really special.

All their place names, straws, favours and labels were diligently hand stamped by Paul.  It must have taken him hours but they did look pretty damn cool, so well worth the effort Paul 🙂

Beechenhill is such a beautiful setting, nestled in the hills of the peaks.  The views are stunning.  They have self catering and B&B accommodation, so all of Faye and Paul’s close relations were able to stay on the farm and they arranged a bus to ferry their other guests in from Ashbourne.

The whole day was as laid back as they had hoped.  It started with a beautiful ceremony and Handfasting officiated by One Life Ceremonies.  Faye & Paul had selected different coloured ribbons to signify the different elements of their union together.  Their hands are then literally tied together with the ribbons and three knots are placed in the ribbons before their hands are removed.  This is commonly thought to be where the term ‘tying the knot’ comes from, so it’s steeped in history and very fitting for couples who don’t want a religious ceremony but do want an alternative to a registry office wedding.

I’ve split Faye & Paul’s day into two posts as I struggled to pick just a few images.  I hope you enjoy part one and come back for part two, it involves some Welly Wanging, cow milking and the most amazing gluten free dessert table you’ve ever seen!!

If you’re having a Beechenhill Farm wedding and would like your day captured in an un-obtrusive manor then please get in touch I’d love to hear from you.
