Sasha & Raj’s fusion wedding last year at Pinewood Studios, Heatherden Hall was a day filled to the brim with joy! I’ve been lucky enough to work with a number of Sasha and Raj’s friends in the past so when they called and told me they were getting married I jumped at the chance!
They took elements of both their cultures and backgrounds to create a day that was both meaningful but also fairly relaxed and gave them time to enjoy the celebrations. Sasha’s dress was AMAZING! I loved the fact that she’d chosen a more western style design but in the heavily beaded and richly decorated indian fabrics. Indian weddings are always colourful affairs so their choice of white was brilliant as they totally stood apart from all their guests and bridal party.
The day started with a civil ceremony in the Hitchcock Suite where in a break from tradition Sasha’s Mum walked her down the aisle. At the end of the ceremony both Mum’s lit a candle to signify the joining of their two families, which was such a lovely idea. The ceremony was followed by a Milni, this is an indian tradition where the two families come together through a procession and dance and drumming. When the two families meet the different generations of each family come together and exchange garlands and the more athletic have a competition on who can lift the other the highest! I love this part of the celebrations!!
In the evening Sasha changed into a 50s style dress, so much easier for dancing the night away and having two wedding dresses is never a bad thing, right?
I really hope you enjoy looking through Sasha and Raj’s photos, it was such a pleasure to photograph their day and I think it’s pretty clear what an amazing day they had!
