This weeks Throwback Thursday is Shawn & Sam’s beautiful Maunsel House wedding from 2014. Maunsel house is a photographers dream!!! Every room is like an elaborate set from an movie, the grounds are full of peacocks, grouse and shetland ponies and there’s space for outdoor ceremonies and an a beautiful outdoor covered area to enjoy the wedding breakfast of your choice.
Shawn & Sam’s day was by no means a traditional wedding day and it sited them perfectly. They had their wedding ceremony at 10.30am and then the rest of the day was filled with food and relaxing and chatting, ice cream, home made beer, games, more food and finally dancing. Shawn had her stunning, purple wedding dress made back at home in America and went with a simple posey made of ears of corn and lavender for her bouquet, with smaller versions for the bridesmaids and button holes to match for the boys.
There were so many lovely moments like when they were presented with a huge knitted blanket, all the squares made by family and friends and then stitched together by Sam’s Mum and grandmother. This band of eager knitters had also made all the little tea pouches that were given as favours.
I think Shawn & Sam’s day is the perfect example of how to have your wedding, your way. If you don’t fancy wearing white, then don’t, if you want to play role playing games whilst other guests go for a nice afternoon nap then why not! There are no rules, but your rules 🙂
